Midyetts Report
2008-02-18
Dear Friends:
Praise the Lord with us!
The vascular surgeon gave us good news about my carotid arteries. Since my right carotid artery is 100% blocked, there is no medical intervention that could possibly remedy that situation. However, he said there are four arteries that supply blood to the brain, and a person can keep going with only one of those four arteries open. And I have two clear, plus one partially open! The left carotid, which is 50-69% narrowed, will not require intervention until and unless it becomes 80% or more narrowed. So no intervention is needed at this time. The surgeon believes the infarction (area of necrosis or tissue death) in the right parietal region of my brain occurred when my right carotid artery became blocked.
Therefore the vascular surgeon's advice is that I should see a neurosurgeon to determine the best way of dealing with a small cyst at the bottom of my right cerebellum, in the spinal arachnoid, next to the brain stem.
Praise the Lord with us that I was able to see the GP almost immediately to get a referral to the neurosurgeon; and that the vascular surgeon also gave us a referral to a second neurosurgeon. Please join us in prayer
1. That God will arrange an appointment with the neurosurgeon of HIS choice at the time of His choosing;
2. That the neurosurgeon will have wisdom to know the best way and time to deal with this cyst.
3. That God will give us wisdom to know how best to do what we can to alleviate my symptoms in the meanwhile. My greatest problem right now is mixing up words in my writing.
Thank you SO much for your partnership with us in seeking God's best solution to my health problems. Already I have been sleeping well—no more propping up on pillows, since no more fluid is on my lungs. My shoulder pain is almost gone. I am doing a fast walk twice daily, carrying on normal research in my field of health care, and took a trip last weekend to the baptismal service of an Indian in the Australian Navy. My grandson Matthew did the baptizing. I have added this Indian brother, who sailed again the following morning, to my prayer and email list. Pray for him. His name is Trisan Mudaliar. Pray also for Matt, a school chaplain sent from his church, as he teaches 4th and 5th graders in public schools.
My son Victor and his wife Shirley leave from Tulsa, OK Feb 19th, arriving in Perth Friday, 22nd at 5:40pm. They are staying over night in an Auckland Hotel to break the trip up, and hopefully arrive not quite so wiped out. They will spend the next week in the Perth area locating a vehicle and renewing acquaintances with friends of former years, then arrive in our area on February 29. They will be living with my daughter Anita until other arrangements can be made. Please join us in prayer for a safe arrival.
Yours in His service,
JT and Sarah Midyett
