Midyetts Report

Jan 9, 2006

Dear Prayer Partners,

Next weekend our ministry will be with national missionary Sam Vergese and family in the state of Gujarat, on January 18-21 with national missionary Solomon James in Alwar in the state of Rajasthan, and from there on to Delhi with the Medom family we met in the States from January 21-23. With them we have to see about some scanning work before we fly to Hyderabad on January 24. Our concern is Bible curriculum printing for Bible schools, orphanages and for those in classes equivalent to our 11th and 12th grades.

Solomon Surya Rao in Secunderabad has a women's retreat on January 26, where Sarah will speak, and from there we will go to David Bandaru in Hyderabad. In addition to ministry with him, he is allowing us to finalize disks in the three fields needed for our curriculum in Kota and elsewhere. We need to complete our new edition of Mark that we began in Australia. We had expected to use the old, shorter edition, but we all realized the newer edition would be more effective.

This week we did a PowerPoint presentation to 400 teachers and 40 school managers, to be followed with a disk of James Hatch's booklet, "Teaching--the Heart of God's Redemptive Program." Also I did a PowerPoint presentation for a group of 17 high schoolers visiting here from the Ft. Worth area. Their leader requested that I include details of my World War II years as they prepared me for my 20 years in India. My experiences in these two periods of my life are similar to what a diabetic or hypoglycemic experiences with a sudden drop in blood sugar level--up one minute, and down the next. In both cases when some adverse circumstance occurs, it often turns out that it's not as harsh as it could have been. And this may happen several times in one day. That's life here in India.

The real experience of low blood sugar happened to Sarah on Monday. She fainted for the second time in her life. When she came out of that brief coma, her smile and talk was a testimony to bystanders who had seen her head hit the concretre floor. Well, her diet has now improved, thanks to Dr. M. A. Two eggs for breakfast and yogurt with her regular diet for the other two meals seems to be the key for her.

Oh yes, her arm cast is off now, and her typing with both hands is slowly coming back to normal. We thank God for some excellent secretarial help to compensate for her one-handed work on the computer. I have largely been her second hand in other ways, like setting up the PowerPoint for five classes on Tuesday and three on Wednesday while she took her turn with the 400 visiting teachers. How's that for God's intervention when the authorities failed to add her to their two-day program here?

We will not be here next month when over 1,000 Bible school students will graduate and go into full-time evangelistic work. Next year the number will increase, and each one of them will have had our one-year Bible curriculum. For this to happen, materials need to be ready to print by January 15. Pray with us for this--another miracle!

Yours faithfully,
J. T. and Sarah
