Midyetts Report
Dec 14, 2005
Dear Prayer Partners,
We arrived at our first appointment on Dec. 7th and found immediate interest in the Bible teacher training materials for a certificate program. Last night, an all night prayer meeting was held preparatory to a conference of Christian school managers today. Grades 3 and 4 of our Bible curriculum are being considered as a pilot project.
One manager with many schools was a buffalo tender as a boy. When the buffalo died, his dad blamed him for this misfortune and said, "You won't amount to anything on the farm, so go to the mission school." After graduating from the mission school, this young man proved so capable that he now has many churches and schools under his charge. He invited us to return home with him in his car to minister in his area which is 5 hours north from here.
Our next appointment will be in Hyderabad with David Bandaru and Soloman Surya Rao. There we must regroup, check the cleaned-up scanned copies of grades 3 and 4 curriculum and the Bible teacher training books, then put all on CD. These two Indian brothers in Hyderabad are where I had a ministry years ago. They have churches and schools so I may consider this first appointment as preparatory for the second.
I have to tell you that on our first day here, Sarah fell and broke her left wrist. It is now in a cast up to her elbow.
Pray for:
1) Proper healing
2) The completion of cleaning up the scanned copies, and of all our
material
3) For making CD's and printing as much as we can at this point
4) An understanding in what is somewhat fustrating.
5) This week's Bible Teacher Training Seminar
We have had other hindrances too: In our 14 hours delay in Singapore, we couldn't find our tickets when we looked for them. That emotional incident however turned out for good, in that the India Airlines put us up in their 1st class lounge and fed us until our flight time, skipping customs.
On the train to Kota, we were grossly overcharged. Thru that incident we made friends with a young Indian who lives in Kota. He invited us to his home. Only yesterday, the doctor dismissed Sarah until the cast comes off on Dec. 30th and now we can make that visit to our new found friend's home.
Should we--can we afford staying here until after Dec. 30th? The suggested fee is $36 a day. So our keep here eats into what we have for printing costs.
We are convinced the Lord brought us here. May His purpose be fulfilled. Kota, in my estimation, has the greatest evangelistic thrust of all India, and we are entering into that field before going on to Hyderabad.
Our sixth prayer request is for wisdom. We still need sets for church schools. Thank you for your participation to date.
Yours for Christ in India,
J. T. and Sarah Midyett
