you know what they're going to judge in the favor of? That's that written down. He was obedient to God's word - to God's command. Jesus is God. And that's what he was getting around to. He doesn't believe Jesus is God. He just believes he was a good man on earth. And whatever religion he's in and he's in one of those way - out deals and he's not a real strong practice of that but he claiming something besides Jesus Christ. His obedience to the Word of Him who spoke as the Light of the World. The Light of the World. He went his way therefore washed and came seeing. This man was not responsible for being born blind. But he was responsible for accepting or rejecting the message of grace and salvation.
That is what we are held accountable for today, Church. As people come here, we're responsible. It's filling this pulpit to preach the Gospel and then the responsibility shifts to them. And then that responsibility shifts to you. It shifts to you as an audience in the fact that you have to look at your own account. (I doubt that I will have time - I don't even know why I'm looking at this watch - 'cause it ain't right. Tommy wanted my watch anyhow. I'm not going to say - That was a good place to put that in Tommy - but to show you how much I love you - that's Grace - I'm not going to use that against you tonight - Me and you know and Renda know what I'm talking about - we're going to leave it right there. Yes.) Grace something else isn't it?
But the responsibility shifts to the audience those who sit here and listen to what we have to say and your responsibility is you have to either receive or reject God' plan of salvation. So I look over the audience tonight and I'm thinking that most of you have made a public profession of faith, so you're sitting here as born again children of God, well you still have a responsibility. And we're going to find out now in this part the message where that responsibility picked up. He was responsible after he was told the truth how he could be made to see, and then he had to obey that that he was commanded to do. But it doesn't end there. It doesn't end there. Because the cure was noticed - he had the cure. And I remembered talking about this and I think I talked to Randy about it since Randy has one eye that he's lost sight in. People like that - you may not believe this - but they have a better appreciation - I cant appreciate what this guy must have enjoyed, even like Randy can because - I remember when we were still active, Randy, playing volleyball, and some people would get upset "aw he missed that one!!" He said," I tell you what; I want everybody on this court to shut one eye. And I tried that one time. And I looked like Randy. I couldn't hit the ball. It messes you up doesn't it? It causes a problem. This guy, he had the cure. He had been totally cured. And other people saw it. I really believe that, regardless of what they say about Baptist today. I'm one of those guys that believe that once saved - always saved. But I believe it makes a difference in you life. I believe that when Christ comes in, there are some things that change and it's noticeable changes. And here it says others noticed the cure. Let me get my Bible out. I've got so many notes now, I couldn't print up any more, and I'm going to have to use the Bible. When all else fails use Gods' word, right. In (John 9:8) verse 8 - The neighbors - (do you have neighbors today? this is nothing new - people have had neighbors since this planet started to be repopulated...) I want you to look how they saw him. In his blind condition, he was at the mercy of the world. I left the Wellness center today and the route that I take, I come around and hit the feeder road and come back under at 11th street. I don't get on 11 Street. And when I went to turn there was a guy standing there in that cold wind had a sign. I didn't have time to read it, because the traffic was moving but I'm sure it said "I will work for food or I'm homeless" or whatever they put on that but we still call those people what - he was begging!
He was at the mercy of the people, like myself, who was driving thru that intersection and I turned before I got to actually where they're usually right there at that intersection. And I turned just before that, but that guy was standing there, regardless of what you think about him and I have my opinion on how some of those people operate - it makes no difference. His attire was that I saw him a beggar. I saw him as someone that was in need. He was at the mercy of the world. This blind when he didn't have his sight was at the mercy of the world. But what happened when he got his sight? He was not longer dependent on the world to supply him with that that he stood in need of. And they asked him. In (verse 8)(Verse 10) - I mean they recognized something about him - evidently his eyes were close shut he couldn't even open his eyes. And now they see him with his eyes open. Nobody is leading him around. He's getting around on his own. He's not stumbling and falling over things.
And he wasn't sitting and begging. They said this is the guy that used to be here begging. He not longer had a need to beg. See when we've really have the cure, we've really been delivered, we no longer have to beg, Church. We make requests. We go to the Heavenly Father. (Joellen stopped me, we had Loren, we was leaving out and she was coming in, We got Loren, we're going to church, OK but I need to put a prayer request - I want you to give a prayer request tonight - I didn't get a good report - I didn't hear all and Darlene was relating it to me as we drove on around. And I said, "we're sitting in the middle of the intersection, there's people coming, ya know we got to get out of here." We don't have to worry about Joellen's situation, Church. We have to pray about it. Why do we want to worry? Do we want to beg? Are we a beggar? I don't think so.)
A thought flashed thru my mind. It took me back to Leagueville. The Memorial Day fellowship. Loren and Joellen were up there and Loren was running all over the place. I walked over to Brother Watson. And I was - You know how I do about my grandkids - like most people do about their grandkids - and I'm sure I was bragging on Loren about how she was running and jumping and doing all that stuff and Joellen and Steven was trying to corral her and you know how all that goes. And he reached and got me and pulled me up real close and he said, "Brother Dan, I remember the night I was there preaching a revival and that little girl came in and she fell on your chest and she said 'Daddy, they told me my baby's not moving'". He said, " I wish you'd look at that!" WE'RE NOT BEGGERS!!! We don't have to beg. He said" You looked at her and said 'Sis, let's go in here and talk to God about it'. Do you believe in the one that Doyle sang about tonight? Is he that real in your life? I like what you did, Doyle - "steel on steel". Those nails were driven into his hands for me, so I wouldn't have to be a beggar. They (continued...)
